Do Dallas Cowboys Risk Alienating Micah Parsons? | Weekly NFL Content Roundup
NFL free agency is now less than one week away
First and foremost, the response to the launch of Between The Hashmarks has been overwhelming, and I’m appreciative beyond words to everyone who makes us part of your NFL content rotation.
Meanwhile, NFL free agency gets underway in earnest when the new league year begins on March 13.
As speculation ramps up ahead of the “legal tampering” period — which unofficially and stealthily got underway in the back rooms of bars, steakhouses, and cigar lounges of Indianapolis during the NFL Combine, it’s easy to miss a headline or juicy rumor.
To all new subscribers, each week this post will be a collection of the NFL coverage I’m most proud of from the week that was, as a roundup of the news I think you’ll find most insightful.
Cowboys Make Potentially Controversial Micah Parsons Decision
The Dallas Cowboys will pick up Micah Parsons‘ fifth-year option, but the decision could potentially alienate the franchise and one of its brightest stars.
Fresh off being named a First-Team All-Pro for the first time, and finishing as the runner-up in NFL Defensive Player of The Year voting, the Cowboys picked up Parsons‘ fifth-year option but did so as a defensive end, according to The Dallas Morning News.
While it makes sense that Dallas would label Parsons as a defensive end, based on the fact that he played a majority of snaps in 2023 as an edge rusher, the move also has significant cap ramifications for the Cowboys and when it comes to Parsons’ paycheck.
SOURCES: Texans’ Blake Cashman Drawing Interest From 10+ Teams
The Houston Texans are trying to re-sign Blake Cashman, but the veteran linebacker is drawing a massive market as free agency nears, league sources tell FanBuzz.
According to a source, granted anonymity to speak freely, at least 10 teams have expressed some level of interest in signing the 27-year-old thumper.
Cashman appeared in 14 games for the Texans in 2023, logging the most productive season of his career, finishing with 106 total tackles with two sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and one interception in 14 games.
The 1 Free Agent Each NFL Team Must Sign
When the market opens on March 13, there will be a litany of former All-Pros and Super Bowl champions available, as well as ascending talents who shook loose from their former teams amid mad dashes to get under the salary cap.
As free agency nears, here's a look at the one free agent that each team must make every effort to sign, including the likes of Saquon Barkley, Tyron Smith, Calvin Ridley, and more.

Packers Can Follow Organization’s Free Agent Playbook to Sign Top Safety
Rebuilding the secondary is a top priority for the Green Bay Packers as free agency looms, especially following the arrival of new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
Hafley’s system is predicated on strong play in coverage from the secondary. However, as the new league year looms on March 13, both of the Packers’ starting safeties from the 2023 campaign are set to become unrestricted free agents.
Eagles Urged to Sign Chiefs’ Key Playmakers in Free Agency
Few positions on the Philadelphia Eagles‘ roster need an upgrade in talent more than at linebacker.
Philadelphia is certainly counting on Nakobe Dean to make major strides in his third season, but injuries have limited his availability and played a role in the former University of Georgia standout posting a combined 43 tackles through his first 22 games.
However, besides Dean, four of the Eagles’ linebackers from last season are set to become free agents when the new league year begins on March 13, and Noah Ellis has never played an NFL snap.
