I dunno, I feel like the Sanders Circus is the last thing this organization needs. There are places it could work, but I do not think Cleveland is one of them. I’d rather see them draft Abdul Carter, either as a compliment or replacement for Garrett, and use the second round pick on someone like Kyle McCord.
That could work, though McCord feels like a half-measure, doesn’t he? I also kind of wonder if the Sanders circus isn’t a bit overblown since Deion is still the head coach at Colorado, how much time is he going to have to be a distracting sideshow?
It’s not even so much what Deion would say; I’d be very wary of drafting a guy that has never been coached by anyone but his father. Maybe he responds great to it, but I don’t think he’s worth the risk in that spot and not for them specifically. With what they’ve gone through at quarterback in the last few years I just don’t think they can risk anyone with any kind of character question marks. Cam Ward should be a possibility, and I think Stefanski could develop him, but they probably need someone more ready to start right away even if his ceiling isn’t as high.
